The Washington Township Board of Supervisor’s met at the Municipal Building on October 18, 2021.

All Supervisors were present.

Supervisors Dan McGregor called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. with the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.

Supervisor Ralph McGregor made a motion to approve the September minutes as read. Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. seconded the motion.

Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s report as read and to be filed for audit. Supervisor Dan McGregor seconded the motion.

Supervisor Dan McGregor read the following reports. Penn State Health Life Lion EMS responded to 183 calls for the month of September. 1 call was in Washington Township. Northern York County Fire Rescue EMS responded to 44 calls for the month, there were no calls in the township. Wellsville Fire Company responded to 37 calls, 2 were in the township. Northeast Adams EMS responded to 46 calls, 3 were in the township. The ambulance responded to 120 calls with 3 calls in the township.

Subdivision Plans:

There were no plans presented.

Business from the Floor:

Resident John Peters asked about the Township getting a contract with a trash hauler since his bill is going up every month. Supervisor Dan McGregor suggested checking with other haulers or negotiate with current hauler. Resident Caroll Myers suggested to Mr. Peters that he take his trash to the land fill maybe once a month.

Old Business:

Supervisor Dan McGregor reported that the 2022 proposed Budget is ready for inspection and made a motion to have the Secretary advertise the budget for inspection. Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. seconded the motion.

Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. made a motion to have Ordinance 2021-01 advertised. It is amending Riding Academy or Boarding Stable. It should show the addition of ( including those horses owned by the property owner for personal use) as recommended by the Township’s Planning Commission. Supervisor Dan McGregor seconded the motion.

New Business:

Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. made a motion to have the Secretary advertise to appoint a certified public accounting firm to perform the 2021 audit, replacing the elected Auditors. Supervisor Dan McGregor seconded the motion.

Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. made a motion to approve the Fire Protection Agreement with Northern York County Fire Rescue. Supervisor Ralph McGregor seconded the motion.

Supervisor Ralph McGregor stated that he has lived in Washington Township for almost 80 years. He has seen what other townships are like and he is so glad he lives here in Washington Township. Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. seconded Ralph’s comment.

Solicitor’s Report:

Solicitor Evan Gable was present for Solicitor Sharon Myers. He answered questions from the Supervisors on the procedure for road abandonment. They are considering abandoning Grove Lane which is only several feet long. They will continue to think about this until next month’s meeting.

Solicitor Gable discuss the Cable Franchise Agreement with Comcast. The current agreement expires October of 2022. Everyone present wants to see more area in the Township covered by Comcast, since there is no other cable option.

Supervisor Dan McGregor made a motion to pay the bills out of the General Funds Account totaling $32,081.66 and the State Account totaling $5,256.25. Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. seconded the motion.

Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:41 P. M. Supervisor Ralph McGregor seconded the motion.
